Colorado Rock Climber Daniel Tompkins
Daniel is a 16 year old Colorado climber out of Grand Junction. This young man has acclimated and climbed the Peruvian pikes at the age of 13 and not to mention just about every mountain in Colorado. This young man has been climbing since he was the age of 4 years old. His mother Victoria has been an avid climber for 20 years now. She also has scaled about every boulder in Colorado and some abroad. More later on this story..

Described Karpeichik as a "ray of sunshine."

Karpeichik, 41, died Sunday of trauma and internal injuries after her paraglider was blown into power lines at Pueblo Reservoir. I would like to express my deepest condolence to husband Tom Karpeichik, family and friends.
Judy and Tom, took up the sport last fall, and they were taking a paragliding-over-water safety course when the accident occurred.
Rocky Mountain High
John Denver
He was born in the summer of his 27th year
Comin' home to a place he'd never been before
He left yesterday behind him, you might say he was born again
You might say he found a key for every door
When he first came to the mountains his life was far away
On the road and hangin' by a song
But the string's already broken and he doesn't really care
It keeps changin' fast and it don't last for long
But the Colorado rocky mountain high
I've seen it rainin' fire in the sky
The shadow from the starlight is softer than a lullabye
Rocky mountain high
He climbed cathedral mountains, he saw silver clouds below
He saw everything as far as you can see
And they say that he got crazy once and he tried to touch the sun
And he lost a friend but kept his memory
Now he walks in quiet solitude the forest and the streams
Seeking grace in every step he takes
His sight has turned inside himself to try and understand
The serenity of a clear blue mountain lake
And the Colorado rocky mountain high
I've seen it rainin' fire in the sky
You can talk to God and listen to the casual reply
Rocky mountain high
Now his life is full of wonder but his heart still knows some fear
Of a simple thing he cannot comprehend
Why they try to tear the mountains down to bring in a couple more
More people, more scars upon the land
And the Colorado rocky mountain high
I've seen it rainin' fire in the sky
I know he'd be a poorer man if he never saw an eagle fly
Rocky mountain high
It's Colorado rocky mountain high
I've seen it rainin' fire in the sky
Friends around the campfire and everybody's high
Rocky mountain high
LeMond accuses Landis camp of harassment
It was a shock, not only because of the content of the three-time Tour de France winner's much-awaited appearance, but because of the contrast between his testimony and three days of scientific nitpicking.
During his short bit of testimony, LeMond told of a conversation he had with Landis after news of Landis' positive “A” urine sample during his 2006 Tour victory had been leaked to the press.LeMond urged Landis to come clean if, in fact, his backup “B” sample also came back tainted.
He said he encouraged Landis to help his sport and “more importantly, help himself.”
“At this point, he said, 'I don't see anything that ... what good would it do? If I did, it would destroy a lot of my friends and hurt a lot of people,'” LeMond testified.
He said he used the story of his being sexually abused when he was 6 as an example of how it's good to get things out in the open.
“It nearly destroyed me by keeping the secret,” LeMond said.
He said he told Landis that very few people knew that about him, then accused someone in the Landis camp of using that information Wednesday night to intimidate him from appearing as a witness.
LeMond described receiving a call that he said he later traced to the cell phone of Landis' manager, Will Geoghegan.
“He said, 'I'll be there tomorrow and we can talk about how we used to' perform a sexual act, LeMond said. “I thought this was intimidation to keep me from coming here.”
He said he was so distraught by the call, he filed a police report, which was presented as evidence by attorneys. Malibu sheriff's officials, however, declined to release the report or details about it, saying the case was under investigation.
LeMond showed his cell phone screen with a record of the number from which he received the call. The number matched that on Geoghegan's business card.
That marked the end of LeMond's brief testimony.
He was then turned over for cross-examination, and when attorney Howard Jacobs asked him about statements he'd made in the past about Lance Armstrong – who LeMond has suggested has doped in winning the Tour – LeMond said he wouldn't answer those questions.
Procedural bickering ensued, and arbitrators called for a break to determine whether LeMond's testimony could be allowed. As the parties were leaving the room, LeMond confronted Geoghegan, though the two did not exchange blows.
Thus marked a most unexpected turn in what had been a turgid three days of testimony, most from French-speaking workers at the lab where Landis' urine was analyzed.
A three-man arbitration panel hearing the testimony will decide whether to uphold Landis' positive doping test after Stage 17 of last year's Tour. If it does, Landis could face a two-year ban from cycling and become the first person in the 104-year history of the Tour to have his title stripped for a doping offense.

CSU-Pueblo to reinstate three sports, including football, in ’08
The Colorado State University System Board of Governors unanimously approved Tuesday to reinstate football, wrestling and women’s track and field at CSU-Pueblo, according to a CSU-Pueblo release. Five sports, including football, were dropped from the University of Southern Colorado, which later joined the CSU system and changed its name, in the spring of 1985. Men’s and women’s track and field programs were eliminated in 1993 and wrestling was cut in 2001.

AI hasn't been 'The Answer' for Nuggets
Denver Nuggets guard Allen Iverson, front, and forward Marcus Camby react as time runs out in the fourth quarter of the San Antonio Spurs' 96-89 victory in Game 4 of an NBA Western Conference first-round playoff series in Denver on Monday, April 30, 2007. (AP Photo/David Zalubowski)
Allen Iverson has gone from almost invincible to nearly invisible.
In six trips to the playoffs with the Philadelphia 76ers, Iverson's 30.6 scoring average was second all-time to Michael Jordan's 33.4.
He scored in 31 in his Nuggets playoff debut, but he's gone in a deep funk since - making just 25 of 70 shots in the last three games, all Spurs' wins.
Just 9-of-25 Monday night, he didn't score at all during the final 5:24 as the Nuggets watched their four-point lead evaporate in a 96-89 loss.
"I just couldn't dig in late," said Iverson, who scored 22. "I'm not trying to take anything away from them. They have been effective and are making me take tough shots. When I drive to the basket, they are shadowing me and making sure that I see more than one defender. It's just something I have to get through." MORE ON THIS STORY>>
