Lady Panthers head to state tourney

Journal Staff Report After finishing the regular season with an overall record of 8-5-2, the Montezuma-Cortez High School soccer squad was awarded the No. 26 seed in the 2007 Colorado High School Activities Association 4A Girls State Tournament.
The Lady Panthers, who battled to a Southwestern League record of 3-5-2, must now travel to face seventh-seeded Pueblo South in a first-round matchup Wednesday in Pueblo.
The Colts enter the contest with an overall record of 13-2-0.
Fellow 4A school Montrose
— the only other 4A school to compete in the predominantly 5A SWL — garnered the No. 19 seed. They will face Pueblo Centennial on Wednesday in Pueblo.
M-CHS’s contest versus Pueblo South is scheduled to kick off at 7 p.m. The winner advances to the second round where they will face the winner of Mountain Range/Conifer.
