’Dogs, Cyclones likely to miss out on postseason

Six wins and four losses probably won't cut it to reach the Class 4A state football playoffs this season.
That's bad news for the teams from Centennial and Pueblo West high schools, which will shoot to finish 6-4 with wins on Friday. Twenty teams in Class 4A have three or fewer losses, likely eliminating teams with four from the 16-team field.
Pueblo West was 5-3 prior to dropping a 34-7 decision at Fountain-Fort Carson last weekend. The Bulldogs have been sitting on four losses for more than a month and have a four-game winning streak.
The seven conference champions are automatic qualifiers and the committee will select and seed the remaining nine teams in the 4A bracket.
South and Pueblo County have already locked up playoff berths. The undefeated and second-ranked Colts clinched their seventh consecutive Foothills League title, and the Hornets landed one of three playoff berths out of the South Metro League.
