The Pueblo Chieftain Online - Pueblo, Colorado U.S.A: "Mines signs Colt
South High School senior Niko Marinucci has received a full-ride scholarship to play basketball at Colorado School of Mines for coach Pryor Orser.
Marinucci is a two-year starter and three-year varsity player for the Colts. The 6-foot, 185-pound sharpshooter averaged 13.6 points per game while leading South to a 20-3 record last season.
'I'm very excited to have the opportunity to attend a school like Mines,' Marinucci said Friday following the Colts' loss to Loveland in the state football playoffs. 'I'm glad we got it done before the basketball season.' Marinucci was named first-team all-South-Central League by the conference's coaches and was honorable mention all-state as a junior. He played in large tournaments across the country with his club team, Colorado Chaos.
'Without a doubt, he is the best pure point guard in the state of Colorado,' Pryor said in a release posted on the Mines website. 'I would envision Niko being someone who breaks all the assist records while playing at Mines.'
