The 2006-07 season was a success, nevertheless.
The Pack won the West Division of the RMAC, knocking off regional qualifiers Nebraska-Kearney and Metro State along the way. The T-Wolves won 12 of 14 during one stretch but lost some key in-region tournament games early on.
Three players were named to the all-West Division team - senior Kerry Lewis, junior Lindsay Black and sophomore Mary Rehfeld. And sophomore Jonnie Draper was tabbed West Division defensive player of the year.
A 17-10 finish wasn't lost on second-year head coach Kip Drown.
"We really buried ourselves from the beginning losing four home in-region tournament games," Drown said. "So we knew we had to win the tournament (Shootout) to get in.
"I was proud of our kids. They hung in there. We had a couple holes we never could fill. I'm really excited about our group next year. We have a good nucleus coming back. I like where the program is and we're heading in the right direction."
Two seniors will depart - Lewis and Karin Hansen. But the rest of the roster returns, including Black and Rehfeld, who were first and third on the team in scoring with 12.8 and 12.4 scoring averages, respectively.
