Eagle boys put forth solid effort against Wildcats
THE PUEBLO CHIEFTAIN
The East High School boys basketball team produced one of its strongest efforts of the season Friday in a 62-58 South-Central League win over Central at the Colorado State Fair Events Center.
The win broke a tie with the Wildcats and left East alone in third place in the S-CL standings. The Eagles did it thanks to outrebounding Central 31-19, shooting 47 percent and turning the ball over just 13 times.
"They played well. Their focus was good, their effort, and their board work was outstanding," East coach Dave Ryder said.
Joe Wahl scored 15 points and grabbed a game-high nine rebounds to give solid support to S-CL leading scorer A.J. Carbajal (19 points). Central's Devon Manning scored 12 fourth-quarter points to mount a Wildcats' comeback and finished with a game-high 20.
