ALAMOSA, Colo. — Pueblo South High School senior Ashley Martinez became the first official softball recruit of the 2006 early signing period when she signed with the Adams State College Grizzlies and head coach Cari Boe last week.
Martinez earned First Team All-State honors for the Rick Reyes coached Colts. She will join the Grizzly squad for the 2007-08 season.
“Ashley is a good, hard-working, dedicated athlete that loves the game of softball,” said coach Boe. “She has quick hands and good footwork up the middle, and she has potential to do well in the RMAC.”
Martinez, a middle-infielder with some experience at third base, also earned Second Team All-State accolades in both 2003 and 2004. She will join a Grizzly team that made the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference post-season tournament last season for the first time since 2001"
